UK Religion Survey (2017)

Introduction

UK FlagPrior to Easter, A Religion Survey was held on behalf of the BBC over the period 2nd - 12th February 2017 (with a sample size of 2,010).

Note: Totals may not add to 100% due to rounding.

 

Belief in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Q1. The Bible tells the story of Jesus rising from the dead. Which, if any, of the following statements best reflects your views on this?

NOTES:

1. Those surveyed who did not believe in the resurrection were further divided by sex as follows: 58% male, 43% female.

2. 64% of 18-24 year olds did not believe, the highest of any age band.

Belief in Life after Death


Q2. Which of the following statements, if any, best reflect your views on life after death?

Base: All respondents.

 

 

NOTES:

1. Only 36% of Male persons believed in Life after death, but for Females, the number was considerably higher at 56%.

2. Belief in Life after Death ranged from 42% of those aged 65 or over to 52% of those aged 25-34.



Q3. You mentioned that you believe that there is life after death. Which of the following forms, if any, do you believe this takes?

Belief by Religious Group


Q4a. To which of the following religious groups do you consider yourself to be a member?

Base: All respondents.

 

NOTES:

1. Only 30% of 18-24 year olds identified as 'Christian' and 55% had no religion, the highest of any age band.

2. 43% of those surveyed in Scotland had no religion, the highest of any area.
